The other day I was reading Romans 8:37 that says “Yet, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
It brought to mind math class during my school days. Remember the less than symbol (<) and the greater than symbol (>)? My next thought was that I’ve always felt “less than” but God’s Word says I am “greater than” or “more than” a conqueror. How can I be “more than” when I have always felt “less than”? There is only one way and that is “through Him who loved us.”
My default setting will always make me feel like a “less than” person because I am deeply flawed. My thinking will always swing to how I feel inside, which is “less than”. That is why I must renew my mind to God’s Word and His way of thinking and how He sees me which is opposite to how I feel. I actually am “greater than or more than” a conqueror because of Jesus! The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a conqueror as “one who conquers: one who wins a country in war, subdues or subjugates a people, or overcomes an adversary”. Wow, God’s Word says I am more than that! I certainly don’t feel like that most days or any day for that matter.
It is imperative to get my identity from how He sees me or the enemy will see to it that I never accomplish what God has for me to do. If the enemy can steal our identity, he will steal our destiny!
You may feel like a “less than” person too. This can happen from deeply personal events like bad parenting, bad decisions, abuse, depression, or past regrets. But no matter what your past is, God’s Word is always right and He says that through Him, you are “more than” a conqueror. When we believe what God says about us, that is called faith and it is faith that pleases God. When we believe what God says about us rather than how we feel, He can use us for His plans and purposes to do mighty things. Our feelings are fickle, so let’s believe what God says instead and step out in obedience to what He asks us to do. The future awaits!
WOW! Mary-Lynn, when I read, "If the enemy can steal our identity, he will steal our destiny!," I realized that this has been EXACTLY what each battle has been about.
Thank you for your ministry this morning!
